Week 1

The Prior Leschman Garden Project 2018

Week 1 (19th - 23rd March)

Almost exactly 538 years to the day after Rowland Leschman was elected to Hexham Abbey (22nd March 1480)... works proper began on the garden now named after him.  Some initial works, including the felling of the yew tree and some stump removal and ground clearance works were undertaken in late February.  We were unfortunately delayed by the infamous 'Beast from the East' snowy weather of late, but Robin and Mike (All About Gardens) have made great progress this week.  Work has begun on the foundation courses of the raised bed which will frame the west side of the garden.  We will bring updates on the progress of the garden as the works continue.
