Genevieve is a classic British comedy following two friends who take part in the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Alan drives his beloved 1904 Darracq named Genevieve, while his friend Ambrose brings his 1905 Spyker. What begins as a light‑hearted outing quickly turns into a competitive, chaotic, and very funny rivalry between the two men—complete with breakdowns, mishaps, and escalating bets.
The film is celebrated for its charming humour, warm character relationships, and iconic vintage cars. Directed by Henry Cornelius, it became one of the most successful British comedies of its decade and helped revive interest in classic motoring. It also won a BAFTA for Best British Film and received two Academy Award nominations.
