Midnight Mass

Join us at Hexham Abbey for one of the most cherished services of the Christian year — Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.

Held in the stillness of night, this beautiful and reflective service marks the beginning of Christmas Day, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ with reverence, joy, and hope. The Abbey, adorned with candlelight, offers a sacred space for worship, music, and community.

Beginning at 11PM, the service includes:

• Traditional carols sung by choir and congregation
• Scripture readings that tell the story of Christ’s birth
• A short sermon offering reflection on the meaning of Christmas
• The celebration of Holy Communion, open to all who wish to receive

Whether you are a regular worshipper or visiting for the first time, Midnight Mass at Hexham Abbey is a moment of peace and wonder — a chance to pause, reflect, and welcome the light of Christ into the world.

All are warmly invited.
