ALMS DISH or COLLECTION PLATE Inscribed:— Donated to Hexham Abbey by Constance Wallace in loving memory of her beloved husband Leslie who died 12th July 1995. Made of ‘hammered’ metal (stainless steel?) in the arts-and-crafts tradition by K|MC of Keswick. The design of three circling fish is at once a reminder of the miracle of Christ's feeding of the five thousand with barley loaves and ‘a few small fishes’ and also of persecuted early Christians who used the fish as a symbol of Christ because the two initial letters of fish in Greek were ‘IC’ stood for Jesus Christ.
