Ring fixed in the wall with lime or mortar mix (old) with Barrel lock – five ridges – one end open – hexagonal aperture [for socket set release] Metal on barrel not the same as metal on ring. Location next to and probably after, ‘AW’ (HEXAB1123.4.1) incised into wall to right and ‘WR’ (HEXAB1123.3.2) to its left (south).
Purpose unknown; possibly for securing alms box (in N. Transept which for centuries was the main ‘porch’ of the church)
