Gift of Grace Blackett-Ord August 1938 – label on back bottom. Window shape central area, background brown with embroidered St Wilfrid with symbolism shapes around figure (6). Gold & black braid to continue window shape to edge. Lettering at foot “Saint Wilfrid | Hexham”. Backed with dark red ?silk. Held by loops (4) to banner stand [HEXAB271].

1938: “A processional Banner was presented by Mrs C E Blackett Ord. In the centre is the figure of St Wilfrid. It was worked by the Ladies' Diocesan Embroidery Guild. Its value is said to be £300.” [EP 184/274: Parish of Hexham Inventory 1932 et seq, copy on HEXAB9516.2]
