who departed

Here lyeth interred the body of
John Creswel, tanner, who departed
this life the 25th of Aug.

Here lyeth interred the body of James Criswell,
tanner, who was buried the 13th of December,
ano dom. 1675

From Hexham Register: 1654/55 7 Mar James Cresswell buried in the Church; 1655 27 Aug John Creswell buried in the church; 1675 14 Nov James Cresswell, tanner, buried in the church.
1823: “1675. James Cresswell, tanner, gave an acre of land, on Hexham Haugh, called Reah's Acre, the yearly rent thereof, 40s., to be distributed to the poor of Hexham town on the 3d of October, being his birth-day.” [A B Wright p.232]
