“I asked the Rector, Michael Middleton if I could give an icon of St Wilfred [sic] to the Abbey to be sited in St Etheldreda's Chapel. He suggested creating a Chapel of St Wilfrid to house the icon. The Chapel is certainly a place of sanctity. The icon was painted by a Greek Orthodox Monk.” [A Visitor Recollections page from S Transept 17/10/2013 by Margaret Waters, Newcastle; St Wilfrid's Chapel was designed in 1992, but not finished until 1996 – see HEXAB352]
