Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Our prayers are with the Royal family and our nation at this time of deep sadness. Queen Elizabeth always showed great trust and faith in God and we can be assured that she is held in his love for all eternity. As we mourn her death we will also need to celebrate the amazing gifts and devotion that she bestowed on our nation and the Commonwealth. May God’s deep blessing be upon our new King, upon members of the Royal family, and upon our nation and the Commonwealth at this time.

Hexham Abbey is open for anyone who would like to pay their respencts to HM The Queen. Everyone is welcome to light a candle, write a prayer on our prayer board or to sit in quiet reflection.

Official Books of Condolence can be found at the Queen's Hall and the Wentworth Leisure Centre. Please place any flowers on the cenotaph, situated adjacent to the Abbey in the Sele park.

We will be holding a Civic Service at the Abbey at 6pm on Sunday 18 September. Again, everyone is welcome to attend this, but please note we are expecting this to be a very busy service. Please arrive early to guarantee a seat in the Abbey.
